Dear Educator,

On Thursday, October 18, 2018 and Friday, October 19, 2018 at 9:45AM, Opéra Louisiane will present Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, complete with sets, costumes, and orchestra. We want you and your students to join us! Our performances this year will be held in First Baptist Church on Convention St. in downtown Baton Rouge. Teachers attending these performances will be given Education Packets to help incorporate the use of opera as a teaching tool in the classroom and to prepare their students for attending Hansel and Gretel.

Opéra Louisiane’s Young People’s Opera Program (YPOP) was started in 2007 with the support of Mayor “Kip” Holden and the Metro City Council with the purpose of providing fully staged and orchestrated opera performances FREE for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders in East Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes. Over the past ten years, we have provided free opera performances to over 33,000 students!

Reservations are taken on a first come, first served basis and seating is limited. Fax and email are the most efficient ways to send your form. If you do not receive an e-mail stating that your reservation request has been received within five business days, please call the office at 225-377-2029.  Requests will be taken until September 30 or until seating is filled. If there are multiple teachers in your grade level at your school, please share this information with them. Feel free to call the office or email me (admin@operalouisiane.com) with any questions about this opportunity.

Please click here to view the reservation form.

Opéra Louisiane takes great pride in providing a unique field trip opportunity to schools that is completely FREE of charge. Each year Opéra Louisiane relies on local businesses and generous individuals to cover the cost of these performances so your students can attend for free. If you know someone who may be interested in supporting these performances please contact admin@operalouisiane.com.

Thank you for all you do to educate the children of South Louisiana. We look forward to seeing you at the opera!

Sincerely,

Andrea “Andy” Horton
