Community Chorus

Welcome to the Opéra Louisiane Community Chorus!

Community Chorus members are singers from all walks of life who enjoy the chance to perform on stage with our company.

Chorus Auditions
Sunday, September 10th!

Auditions  We are holding auditions for new chorus members and for the role of Amahl on Sunday, September 10th from 2-5PM at First Baptist Church. Please prepare 16 bars of any music that you feel confident singing. Music must be memorized. If you have sung with us in the past, you do not need to audition again. Email to schedule an audition time.

17-18 Season This year, Opera Louisiane has an incredible season that provides excellent opportunities for our Community Chorus to shine on stage! We are excited to present Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors on Saturday, December 9 at 7:30PMat The Church (formerly Christian Life on Quail Drive). We will also present Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore on Saturday, April 7th at the River Center Theater.

Chorus Needs  For Amahl, we are seeking singers age 12 and up. We need a varied chorus of children and adults to play the role of townspeople. For Pinafore, we are seeking singers age 16 and up. The chorus rehearsal schedule is here.

The Role of Amahl   We are also seeking a male singer between the ages of 9 and 12 to sing the role of Amahl. This role requires excellent musicianship and confident stage presence.

A Community Collaboration  We want this year’s performance of Amahl to be the start of a community tradition in Baton Rouge, one that we repeat each year. We are seeking area churches to join us for this production by sharing your singers and your costumes, if you have them. After the performance there will be a Community Cookie Cheer for all of us to celebrate the holidays together.
