Richard Wagner’s epic, four opera cycle, Der Ring des Nibelungen usually requires a 16-hour commitment from audiences. Opéra Louisiane Music Director Michael Borowitz condensed the story to an accessible 2 hours, leaving in “The Ride of the Valkyries” and other famous tunes. In this tale full of winged helmets, a powerful ring, murder, lust and greed, you may wonder if you’re watching Lord of the Rings or another episode of Game of Thrones! This unique production is sure to please Wagnerian experts, opera newcomers and everyone in between.
