YPOP Opera Byoux!

Opéra Louisiane visits the elementary school children in their schools and offers programming for grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. Opera Byoux's program was designed to engage children in opera through interactive storytelling. Four opera singers joined pianist and Artistic Director, Michael Borowitz to teach children what opera is all about. Students learned about the different voice types and how a story is created. A beginning, middle, and end. Maestro Borowitz led the students in a discussion about the singers, the props, and costumes, and the children helped choose characters and titles for these improvisational opera performances, making each performance a unique and speically curated event for the students in attendance.

This season Opéra Louisiane's Young People's Opera Program continues in the schools with children's opera Jack and the Beanstalk.

It's wonderful to see Opéra Louisiane bringing the magic of opera directly to children in such an engaging and interactive way. Introducing young students to the world of opera through storytelling and improvisation not only makes learning fun but also nurtures their creativity and imagination. It must be such a thrill for the kids to help create their own opera performances, choosing characters and even influencing the storyline! Programs like Opera Byoux! are so important for fostering a love for the arts at an early age. I’m sure Jack and the Beanstalk will be an unforgettable experience for everyone involved this season.
